Taste Great Southern hopes to inspire a new trend for wine and food travellers in 2019 with the inaugural Taste Great Southern Express!
When approached by the group organising the weekend package from Quality Apartments Banksia Gardens Albany and local transport operator Busy Blue Bus, I naturally aligned with their inspiration with the Elvis Express which runs passengers from Sydney to Parkes as part of the Parkes Elvis Festival. It's all about fun and getting into the spirit of the event and enjoying the company of other like-minded people.
While we may not see the jump suits alighting at Albany, the spirit and expectations of a gourmet weekend on the state’s Amazing South Coast will have them excited.
Three nights and four days will take in some of the weekend’s highlight events including “Wish You Were Beer” headed up by Albany’s leading chef Amy Hamilton of Liberté and Matt Wilson from Wilsons Brewing. Saturday will include a day strolling around the Albany Wine and Food Festival featuring a line-up of the region’s top producers.
Sunday will round off the weekend with the already sold out Light It Up Feast, a cocktail degustation amongst the Field of Light on Mt Clarence. Food will be presented by invited celebrity Adam Liaw and local hero Paul “Yoda” Iskov of Fervor Food.
All accommodation, transfers and tickets to event are included with the package at just $770 twin share. Not a bad way to get away for an indulgent four day weekend!
The three events are just some of the 30 plus events between the 4 and 14 April as part of the 2019 Taste Great Southern festival.
