Russell has owned a Winebar in the heart of Margaret River, he often talks food on 720 ABC Radio’s Breakfast Program and in his past was a weekly food columnist for The West Australian. Russell has anchored a season of Our State on a Plate and has co-hosted Delish for Channel 9 & 9 Life and presented cooking segments on The Garden Gurus on the 9 Network Nationally. He has written a cookbook entitled MUST EAT; the perfect accompaniment to any food lovers bookshelf.
Russell was brought up on a Margaret River dairy and sheep farm and holds many cherished memories of those days, warm milk from the dairy on morning cereals, fresh mushrooms picked from the paddocks at dinner and fruits plucked from the trees planted around the farmhouse.
Russell opened the renowned Must Wine Bar in Highgate in 2001, where he expresses his love for classic French bistro food with a modern touch and expert technique, shining a light on great West Australian regional produce, enabling him to recreate the flavours from his childhood farming days in his dishes at Must.
